Born in and raised in and around Atlanta, Michelle grew up in Jonesboro and studied History and Art History at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. She spent part of her senior year studying at the University of London in London, England. While there, she also interned at the Victoria & Albert Museum in South Kensington. This experience instilled in Michelle a love of museums and the decorative arts.
Upon graduation, Michelle took a position at the Atlanta History Center where she learned the many facets of a working museum from non-profit management, development, mounting traveling exhibitions to fundraising events. Michelle left the Atlanta History Center after three (3) of service to raise her daughters from home. While at home, she served as the Project Manager at White Tangerine, a boutique marketing firm. Michelle has been coordinating events since 1998 when she began at the Academy of Medicine and continues to do so when her services are sought.
Michelle is a tireless volunteer with the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta. She is an amateur singer in her local Lutheran church and around town. Michelle is of Scottish descent and enjoys being involved in the annual Stone Mountain Highland Games. She also loves literature and is the President of the Atlanta Sherlock Holmes Society.
